Azerbaijani FM meets with Georgian PM

Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Elmar Mammadyarov on Monday met with Georgian Prime Minister Giorgi Kvirikashvili as part of his official visit to this country.

The sides said that the Southern Gas Corridor is of immense strategic character, emphasizing the importance of regional projects being implemented in this area as well as the active cooperation between the sides.


Kvirikashvili spoke widely of the ongoing construction at the Georgia section of the Baku-Tbilisi-Kars railway line, expressing hope that the work will be done in time.

Mammadyarov in his turn remarked that Azerbaijan-Georgia relations are strategic by nature and are developing in an upward trend.


The sides discussed ways of developing bilateral economic-trade relations and intensifying the joint intergovernmental commission’s activity in this area.


They also stressed the importance of carrying out joint infrastructure projects and mutual investment, praising SOCAR’s successful activities in Georgia.
