Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Elmar Mammadyarov on Tuesday received Japan's Parliamentary Vice-Minister for Foreign Affairs Motome Takisawa.
The sides expressed content with the current level of bilateral cooperation, noting that the two countries have the political will to improve ties further, the Foreign Ministry told local media.
Mammadyarov spoke about the successful activities in various fields of Japanese companies operating in Azerbaijan and the conditions created for expanding the cooperation.
The parties exchanged ideas on expanding bilateral cooperation in various fields of economy, including oil and gas, high technology, agriculture, medicine, education, tourism, etc.
Takisawa in turn expressed gratitude for the simplification of visa regime for Japanese citizens at Azerbaijan’s international airports. The parties stressed that efforts should be stepped up for the agreement on lifting visa requirement for people with diplomatic or service-related passports.
The vice-minister said Japan is interested in improving cooperation with Azerbaijan in a comprehensive way, noting that he appreciates Azerbaijan’s support to Japan during voting within international organizations.
The parties then exchanged views on other issues of mutual interest.
